Arts-Integrated Residency at the St. Johnsbury School
In March 2016, I had the opportunity to work with 3rd grade teachers Jen Taylor, Shannon Redmon and Emily Ross along with their students, for an arts-integrated residency through the Community Engagement Lab. Over 7 days, we learnt about weather hazard mitigation through the visual arts; investigating architecture, roofing styles and town design around the globe. The project culminated in the creation of a model village: the first town to exist without roads, complete with 100% renewable energy, and a magic store.
- which house will survive the flood
- testing weather systems on our houses
- welcome to the village
- the schoolhouse
- space and time for leisure activities
- the magic store takes pride of place
- trees bearing fruit and flowers
- importance of back-yard gardens
- houses at the top of the hill
- renewable energy
- the modular village
